I am a quantitative sedimentary geoscientist with 30 years of very diverse post-PhD research and teaching experience. I have worked in several academic and one industrial position, gaining substantial expertise in many aspects of geodynamics, and sedimentary and petroleum geoscience, especially numerical forward modelling. I have more than 70 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals, with over 3700 citations, and an international reputation as an innovative and iconclastic researcher. I am a highly successful teacher in the classroom and in the field for both academic and industrial teaching, with a proven record of creating and growing new modules and programmes at both BSc and MSc level, and a history of successful PhD supervision. Most recently I have proven skill as a manager arising from my role as Head of Department Head of Discipline, UGUK executive committee member, and editorial roles in three major international journals. I was recipient of the Aberconway Medal from the Geological Society of London in 2013 for industrial impact in research.
