Piet Lambregts has been working in the oil and gas industry since 1989. After a short stint in onshore geophysical operations, he joined Shell as an exploration geoscientist, and has been working on numerous projects, executing a large number of exploration programs, in a wide range of hydrocarbon provinces and plays, both clastic and carbonate. He was involved in all aspects of the exploration cycle, from 2D seismic acquisition, to 3D PSDM processing and from regional acreage screening to detailed prospect evaluation, appraisal planning and drilling operations.
Piet was based in Oman, Norway, Malaysia and Egypt from 1990 to 2010, assigned to the local Operating Units. From 2010 to 2025 he worked in The Netherlands on Shell’s global frontier exploration portfolio, as technical project lead and team lead for Ventures in Namibia, South Africa, Sao Tome e Principe, Mauritania, Gabon and several other countries. This included responsibilities for all technical and non-technical aspects of these projects.
His area of expertise is setting up, planning and executing exploration programmes (both technical and non-technical), prospect and portfolio evaluation, and risks & volumes.
